About
An Actor with over 25 years experience, Heather Pleasants has an Advanced Associates Degree in Acting from THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS as well as a BA in Communications from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.
A recipient of the prestigious Drama League of New York Scholarship, as well as the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts, Heather went on to become a professional Actor, appearing on Stage, as well as Film and Television- where she appeared in the Daytime Drama, "All my Children", in Commercials and Films such as "Sliver" with Sharon Stone and Independent Films. Heather wrote & performed her One-Woman Show, "Secrets & Lies" off Broadway and on Tour. Heather is also an Acting Teacher/Director- Teaching Acting for the American Theatre to Adults in Galway, Ireland with the TRINITY Theatre Group, as well as teaching Children and Teens for BARBIZON ACTING in Wilmington, Delaware where she Directed "Scenes from the Movies" as an Actor Showcase at THEATRE N in Wilmington, DE. Heather is a member of The Screen Actors Guild and The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). In 2016, Heather started her own Business, "Seniors Acting Up!" teaching Acting to Seniors 55+.
Teaching Style
My Teaching Style is Classic & Modern; My formal training was Classical, but have worked for over 20 years in the Entertainment Industry and know how much it has changed. My Teaching is comprehensive in that it spans many different Acting Methods- Classes include Acting Exercises, Improv and Scene Work, Emotional Recall, Relaxation Exercises and Physical Warm-Up. Acting for the CAMERA as well as Acting for the Stage.
Curriculum
This is a Classic Acting Class- Teaching the Art/Craft of Acting from Constantin Stanislavski (The Technique of Acting-BOOK-"An Actor Prepares") to Lee Strasberg (The METHOD of Acting- Actors Studio- BOOK-"A Dream of Passion- The Development of the Method") Also from Uta Hagan (Book, "Respect for Acting") and Stella Adler, (whom I was honored & privileged to have studied under) (Book, "The Art of Acting"). Classes include Acting Exercises, Improvisation, and Scene Work, Emotional Recall, Relaxation Exercises and Physical & Vocal Warm-Up. Acting for the CAMERA as well as Acting for the Stage.
