Helber Fernandes Ribeiro
About
I hold a Doctor of Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master of Music from Fort Hays State University, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of São Paulo, where I currently serve as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
In addition to my academic and performance career, I serve as the Director of the Brazilian Division of the International Piano Professionals Association (IPPA). This role allows me to stay deeply connected to global standards of piano pedagogy, adjudicate international competitions, and bring world-class insights directly into our lessons.
Teaching Philosophy & Specialization
My teaching philosophy balances a solid foundation in traditional technique with a modern, inclusive approach tied to piano pedagogy. One of my greatest passions is introducing students to the rich, rhythmically captivating, and expressive world of Brazilian piano literature. I specialize in integrating these brilliant, underrepresented works alongside the traditional classical canon to build a well-rounded, distinctive musical identity.
