Henry Fields

 I have been playing guitar for almost forty years. When I was thirteen I was playing the classic rock of Hendrix, Rush, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, in garage bands. I was also privately studying jazz with a local teacher. My world changed in high school after seeing The Grateful Dead. I was deeply inspired by the soaring emotions that they conveyed. I spent my early twenties performing and touring in an original jam band project. We were fortunate enough to play with Widespread Panic, Max Creek and The Aquarium Rescue Unit.  I feel that I am at my most expressive when I am improvising in a jam band setting. I love helping students break out of patterns and hear their own voice. 

I spent my thirties in Los Angeles. I was more focused on songwriting. I spent more time with my acoustic guitar. I learned how to accompany myself as a solo performer. I learned guitar drumming, finger picking and walking bass lines. I can help singer/songwriters become more confident and creative with how they accompany themselves.

I am also a hypnotist and shamanic practitioner. I have been using mindfulness techniques, visualization and emotional journaling  to access increased creativity. I offer this to the students that resonate with such practices.
