About

Henry Harris is a graduate of Varina High School in Henrico, VA and is currently attending Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. He is earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance with a concentration in Trombone. In hopes of building his skills in performance and also composition.

Before getting to this point, Henry was able to do some extraordinary things. For instance, during his senior year of high school he was given the opportunity to play with the Petersburg Symphony; and to this day he remains a member. He also became part of the Richmond Nativity Pageant Brass Choir, and even a Trombone choir called BoneFire. In the summer however, you might catch Mr. Harris with the Accord Symphony in Washington, D.C. performing on his Upright Bass.

Mr. Harris was given the honor of having his first concert band piece "A Night Of Wonder" commissioned by the Elizabeth City State University Concert Band.   

Some of his most notable performances include; University Of Richmond,

ESPN, and for the 72nd Governor of Virginia.

During his freshman and Senior year at Elizabeth City State University, Mr. Harris received the honor of performing with the 2020 and 2023 IMA(Intercollegiate Music Association) Jazz Band Ensemble.

Throughout his musical career, he has had the opportunity to meet some phenomenal people such as Reggie Thomas, Steven Smith, Marlene Rosenberg, Charlton Singleton, Ronald Carter, and 9th Wonder.

With this being said, Mr. Harris maintains focus on his education as well as his future. 

When teaching classical music I like to work out the Simandl method book for double bass and the Arban method book for trombone. Of course we will also look over some classical repertoire, Jazz standards, etudes, music theory ect.
