Hello! My name is Jackson Roberson, and I am a guitarist based in South Carolina. I have a Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Music, and Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance, and I have performed across the southern and midwestern United States as a solo classical guitarist. Teaching is my greatest passion in music, and I have worked with hundreds of students aged 5 to adult. Additionally, I have taught guitar and music theory at the university level. While my area of specialty is classical guitar, my musical interests range from metal to Appalachian folk music (I even wrote my dissertation on aranging traditional folk music for classical guitar)! Whether you are a total beginner just getting started on the instrument or a more experienced player looking to refine your technique, explore music theory, or just expand your musical horizons, I would love to help you on your musical journey. My teaching style centers around developing a strong foundation of fundamentals that my students can use to guide them in any musical direction they choose. Repertoire is determined by the student's personal interests - whether you are interested in classical, rock, metal, folk, blues, country, or anything in between, I strive to help my students master essential techniques and musical elements that help them not only play the songs they love, but also allow them to find their own unique musical voice within the style. I believe that learning music can be about so much more than music. The persistence, dedication, and problem-solving skills developed through learning an instrument are applicable in so many other areas of life. Most importantly, learning music should be fun! Learning an instrument is not always easy, but I always work to help my students enjoy the journey.
