About

I am a vocal and choir teacher for students in grades 5-12. I focus primarily on Musical Theatre repertoire but also have extensive education in Classical Repertoire and vocal diction as well.

I have directed over 20 full staged musicals and also teach a theatre class.

I have prepared 100's of students for Solo Festivals and Vocal Competitions as well as Theatre Auditions including college entrance and community theatre and choirs.

If you are looking forward to a teacher who truly cares about you as a person beyond just the music I am the teacher for you. I am fully invested in making you the best musician you can be.

I have taught 5-12 Choir, Voice Lessons, Musical Theatre, Directed many musicals, judged Music in the Parks Music Festivals as well as solo festivals. I have taught private lessons from my home studio over the last 15 years. I have mastered the art of the video lesson thanks to the Pandemic.

I have been honored as a local Apple Teacher Award and have been inducted into my alumni music hall of fame at my High School.

In addition, I have run an award winning Musical Theatre Program for the past 13 years, recognized by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League.

**In regards to my teaching style I like to take my students lead. Goal setting helps us to create a direction in the lessons. I want to make sure that my students are making choices in their learning.

Musical Theatre Training - The Boston Conservatory
Bachelors of Fine Arts - Music Education - Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam
Masters of Fine Arts - Music Education - Ithaca College
Musical Theatre Training - The Musical Theatre Teachers Workshop

Student centered learning is my goal. I use techniques from a variety of teaching styles and custom how I approach each student differently based on their goals and needs. For musical theatre books I am a big fan of Musical Theatre Anthology Books in addition to individual show Vocal Books. For classical repertoire it will vary based on the solos that we are choosing to work on. Beginners I usually start on Art Songs or the 24 Italian Arias book which has many accessible choices for students of all ages and levels. In addition, I like to utilize sightreadingfactory.com to work on our sight reading skills (often a skill vocalists fall behind on). Music Literacy is incredibly important to me as I teach students how to sing.
