About

With over 20 years of experience Jacques Gadway continues to perform and teach violin. Gadway is a graduate of the University of Miami's Frost School of Music where he received a Bachelors in Instrumental performance and minor in Chemistry. He began teaching early in life regularly returning to his alma mater, Coral Reef Senior High School after graduation to coach chamber music, teach sectionals, and give masterclasses. For the four years of his undergraduate in Miami, Gadway taught chamber music through the Miami Youth for Chamber Music program. Later, he moved to NY where he became a fellow in the Orchestra Now. For the past three years he has been performing in prestigious venues throughout New York City and the Husdson Value including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Fisher Center, and Carnegie Hall. Moving into a world after COVID-19, Gadway aims to transition mostly to online teaching.

It's easy to lose yourself in the movements of music, but believe it or not there are mechanisms you can learn to convey your own art. Classical music is about executing your interpretation and I focus on teaching the tools violinists can use to realize their vision of the music.

I follow a repertoire list broken into four segments (beginner, intermediate, advanced, and preprofessional) that can progress students of many levels. The list includes standard repertoire, etudes, and scales that serve specific developmental functions. My lesson sequencing also includes many relevant listening activities to help immerse students in music. I cater my lesson sequencing to the student based on their personal goals with violin.
