My name is James Hammontree and I am a full time guitar and bass guitar instructor based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with over 20+ years of playing under my belt. Since my early teenage years I have been playing in bands and touring internationally. Currently I teach independently and at School of Rock in Edmond, Oklahoma. I have worked and recorded albums with producers such as Steve Albini, Sanford Parker, Chad Copelin, and many more. Previously I have preformed in bands such as Mammoth Grinder, All Your Sisters, CHUD, Power Pyramid, and currently Black Magnet. I have released records on labels such as Relapse, 20 Buck Spin, High Dive, and The Flenser. I also have experience as a live sound engineer at Oklahoma City venues The Conservatory, 89th Street, The Drunken Fry, and The Blue Note.
I come from a background of playing hard rock, punk, and metal, although I love teaching and playing all styles. Some of my favorite bands include The Ramones, Neil Young, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Townes Van Zadnt, Dead Kennedy's, The Jesus Lizard, and so many more!
