About

James is a multi-instrumentalist recording and performing artist currently working out of Atlanta, GA. He started violin lessons at the age of 4 predominantly learning by ear and independently added all of the other stringed instruments to his studies over time. James expanded his knowledge of different musical genres from classical to bluegrass to Irish fiddling at various and far-flung locations from programs at Sewanee to Berklee College of Music. James also continued to play in various orchestras, bluegrass groups, and alternative style rock bands, always expanding his knowledge of reading music, music theory, and improvisation along the way. By the age of 12 James was performing in the local music scene as a hired out musician for bands, and by the age of 14 he began taking on professional studio recording jobs as an instrumentalist. James has performed in Austin (SXSW), New York City, and many places in between. From the main stages of Imagine Music Festival or Atlanta Pride Festival to clubs like Believe Music Hall or Rockwood Music Hall, James has shared the stage as an instrumentalist and opened for acts such as Bassnector, Tiesto, Zara Larson, Alesso, Rezz, RL GRIME, Galantis, Jody Watley, Leah Culver, Adventure Club, Nitti Gritti, DBMK, JST FRNDS and countless more. He has played with live with artists for crowds of more than 30,000 people and off of the stage his work can be heard on tracks that have amassed a combined 35 million streams. More recently, James produces Pop, EDM, and Hip-Hop for artists of every level. He has produced songs that have reached up to #120 in the top 200 of global radio play charts and he regularly works alongside producers who have had placements with Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, TI, Mariah Carey, Ann Marie, and many more. James has taught 90+ clients over the past 5 years and continues to expand his musical range by working as a studio musician, performing artist, music teacher, sound designer, and producer.

Every student has different musical goals and vastly different learning styles. I consider it my job to make sure that my students reach all of their goals in a way that they will be able to retain, understand, and apply all of the necessary knowledge and skills in real world musical scenarios.”

My method varies for every student, I have never had 1 student with identical goals to another. For classical music and stringed instrument training I recommend Essential Elements and Suzuki. For more contemporary learning on any instrument, I usually lean toward theory based learning with an emphasis on technique so that my students are set up in the most practical way possible, this manifests differently with every student, but a commonality is that I provide a weekly breakdown of immediate goals and a digestable practice regiment that will help my students achieve their goals in the most efficient and effective way possible.
