About

Jaroslav Irović was born in 1993 in Smederevo (Serbia). He started playing the accordion at the age of 8.
His talent was recognized by his teacher Susana Pejic, with whom he completed his basic music school. In 2008 Jaroslav got a place in the music high school "Kosta Manojlovic" in Smederevo with Prof. Milan Erakovic. During his artistic education in his native country, he successfully participated in many competitions, including: 1st Prize at “Accordion Competition” - Novi Kneževac 2011 (Serbia) and 1st Prize at “Accordion Days” - Pančevo 2012 (Serbia).
He studied Master "Professional Performance" in the class of Mie Miki at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and successfully completed his studies in the summer semester of 2022.
He expanded his artistic skills and repertoire in master classes and seminars with well-known artists of the accordion world such as Dr. Zoran Rakic, Franc Angelis, Janne Rättyä, Iñaki Alberdi, Matti Rantanen, Geir Draugsvoll and Veli Kujala. He complemented the seminars by participating in the workshops of Juan José Mosalini and Lars Holm.
He premiered several works by composers such as Karin Haussmann and Tamon Jashima. In November 2019 he played the 6 Orchestral Pieces op. 6 by Anton Webern with the Symphony orchestra of the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Jaroslav was a Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now e.V. scholarship holder from October 2013 to September 2017 and was also supported by the Alfred & Clare Pott Foundation and the Germany scholarship program during his studies.

I have been teaching private music lessons for over 5 years.  My accordion lessons are aimed at all motivated children, teenagers or adults, beginners and advanced. I am well-versed in multiple methods, and am constantly studying new teaching styles to help my students meet their goals. Sometimes I also design a fairly free class in which the students can decide which piece they would like to play, but at the very beginning there are a few basics that everyone has to learn first. I teach my students how to quickly and easily solve all playful difficulties through correct practice and gear my instruction to the needs of the student.

Whether you want to learn classical music, klezmer, waltzes, musettes, chansons, tangos, etc., the accordion is well suited to many different styles of music. I also believe music lessons should be fun and try to help students feel at ease and  gain confidence in their abilities.
