I grew up in a musical home. Hammond B3 Organ in the den, acoustic/ electric guitars in different rooms, electric drum pads and amps for days. My father is a professional singer and hobbyist as a musician. He has always encouraged me to take music as far as I can. Although I dabbled in every instrument at home, I fell in love with the sax and started plying in middle school. In high school I would pick up guitar and in college I grew to love the keyboard. I've attended Palomar College (San Marcos, CA), Musician's Institute (Hollywood,CA), and invested a good amount of money in lessons, workshops, and seminars.
Performance: My performance experience ranges from concert bands, to rock shows, worship experiences/church, and r & b/ soul groups.
Profession: I'm currently teaching music and running a music non-profit full-time, while performing and recording music on a weekly basis.
Resume: I've taught in 13 schools, conducted many workshops, taught thousands of lessons, and still take private lessons myself. You can never get too big for learning. Ever.
My teaching style caters to the individual. I'm a system oriented person so I'll never teach something that doesn't lead you directly to something else. I connect the dots lesson to lesson and never "wing it". Your lessons will be prepared for you personally after our initial lesson and we assess your goals and skill level. I will hold you accountable to your own declared goals and seek to open your thought process. Learning new things are easy if one is given a step by step plan.
I use a private curriculum called " Creative Connections " written by the late Jack Brooks, I also use specific Hal Leonard books, material written by me, and a select set of various published works.
