About

Hey there! I am Jeremy; nice to meet you. :)

I am excited to offer comprehensive music lessons for piano and mallet percussion. As a musician for nearly 20 years, I have learned from- and collaborated with- many elite professionals in the music world. My experience and achievements as a college-level musician are as follows:

- Graduation from Level 10 Federation in Piano Performance

- Graduation from Level 10 A.I.M. (Achievement In Music) Program in Piano Performance

- Private Piano Teacher for 6 years

- High School Music Ensemble Instructor for 3 years

- Private Marimba Teacher for 2 years

- Marching Band and Drum & Bugle Corps experience

I am comfortable teaching students of all ages, from beginner to intermediate level.

Teaching Style

My Teaching Style has one main focus: personalencouragement.

As I teacher, I aim to recognize the music-related goals of my students, and guide them towards accomplishing those goals. I can help them to find confidence on their instrument through comprehensive learning, and show them how the curriculum matches with professional musicianship. Furthermore, I want my students to feel that they can achieve success in their learning, no matter their age or skill level.

For lesson structure, I focus on 4 areas of development: music theory, technique, rhythm, and artistry. All of these fundamentals are touched on in each lesson, but the focus can be tailored depending on the needs of the student. Overall, I am flexible and accomodating, and want my students to enjoy learning, rather than following a strict protocol.

Curriculum

For piano students, I highly recommend the Piano Adventures Books, by Nancy and Randall Faber. This workbook series covers all the fundamentals of piano, and ranges from complete beginner to early-advanced levels. They also have different series' for younger and older students.

For mallet percussion students, we can talk about different options depending on skill level.
