While at the University of Kentucky, I performed at the US Navy Saxophone Symposium with the UK Sax Quartet, on a concert tour of China with the UK Wind Ensemble, and at the Midwest international band and orchestra clinic with the UK Jazz Ensemble, featuring Bob Mintzer. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was standard bearer for the College of Fine Arts.
I have been a middle and high school band director for 13 years. My band has received all superior ratings at festival for the last three years, and several of my students have made all-district and all-state honor bands.
Practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect. I like to begin practicing new materials at a speed that promotes correct repetitions rather than mistakes. I strive to create self-sufficient musicians by emphasizing fundamentals like scales and rhythm studies.
