About

I am a qualified and experienced mathematics instructor.  As head of a Mathematics Department for 12 years, I have taught on many levels and with many types of learners. My expertise is with Algebra I, II, and Pre-Calculus.  This includes Regents Exam Prep and practice assessments.  I have experience teaching Calculus on both the high school and college level. I can assess a student and adjust my teaching to suit the needs of the learner. I have a total of 32 years of teaching experience with 12 of these years as coordinator of Mathematics.  I was also a liaison and instructor for St. John's University College Advantage Program, adjunct professor at SUNY Farmingdale for the Pre-engineering Program. I majored in Mathematics at Molloy College with a minor in Secondary Education and I earned a Masters of Science from Adelphi University.

I enjoy teaching math and helping students learn. Math should be made interesting not frustrating.  When students feel confident and get positive feedback they succeed.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is based on structure, practice, and clear explanations.  Once a student can follow the method, they can learn the main concepts.

Curriculum

Recommended texts depends of topic and prep needed.

I explain and use the required technology for the material.  Typically this is a graphic calculator that is required by NY State.
