About
About Me
I am a professional cellist and cultural manager based in Guadalajara, Mexico. With more than a decade of experience as a performer, I have played as soloist, chamber musician, and member of professional orchestras. I hold a Master’s degree in Cultural Management and serve as a cello professor at the University of Guadalajara, where I mentor students from beginner to advanced levels.
Throughout my career I have collaborated in international festivals, organized masterclasses with renowned musicians, and actively combined my artistic performance with teaching and cultural projects. This dual path allows me to bring not only strong technical knowledge, but also a broad vision of music as a social and artistic experience.
Teaching Style
My teaching is based on three key principles:
- Solid Technique: Building a healthy posture, efficient left hand and bow control, and progressive technical exercises.
- Musical Expression: From the very first lessons, I guide students to think of the cello as a voice, shaping phrases and finding their personal sound.
- Structured Growth: Each student receives a clear, personalized study plan with short-term and long-term goals. I emphasize memorization, conscious practice strategies, and effective study routines to reduce frustration and increase results.
I work with students of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to advanced performers preparing for auditions or competitions. For younger students, I integrate elements of Suzuki and other pedagogical approaches. For advanced players, I use orchestral excerpts, concert repertoire, and etudes (Popper, Piatti, Duport) to refine technique and artistry.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines structured technical development with a strong emphasis on musical expression and independent practice. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level and goals, with a clear balance between:
- Technical Foundations – posture, left-hand facility, bow control, intonation, scales, and arpeggios.
- Musical Growth – phrasing, tone production, memorization, and stylistic awareness.
- Progressive Repertoire – etudes, solo works, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts, depending on the student’s stage.
I emphasize how to practice effectively, giving each student a personal study routine. This ensures progress not only in the lesson, but throughout the week. My approach is flexible: for beginners I use playful and creative methods to keep motivation high; for intermediate and advanced students, I focus on refining technical detail and building artistic confidence.
