About

John Haddix has been playing, teaching, arranging, and performing music for several decades. Beginning with piano and trumpet lessons in grade school, followed by composing and arranging music in high school for jazz band. He continued his development with  a Music Ed. degree from Michigan State University. From there he entered full-time music ministry - teaching music, writing hundreds of arrangements, leading multiple music and worship teams, and playing piano in various styles, from classical to jazz over a 45 year career. He plays regularly for weddings, other events, and church worship services.

While not an advanced classical pianist, he teaches students from beginner to intermediate, and can teach advanced theory and arranging. He is also experienced in teaching brass instruments.

He is passionate about developing the "artist" as well as the "technician" in every musician. And writes on artistic expression and authentic living.

He has been married to the love of his life for over 40 years and has 7 amazing grandchildren.

Teaching Style

I first want to understand your desires and goals as a student! After that, I will tailor each lesson to help you most effectively reach your goals in a fun, and encouraging atmosphere. Musical development is often a challenge and requires hard work, and my job is to resource you with the techniques and knowledge you need, as well as the encouragement to fight through barriers to your development!
