About
Johnnie Lee Walton was first introduced and fell in love with the saxophone as a child. Saxophonist Johnnie Lee Walton's skills and path in the world of jazz were honed and cemented when he attended the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. At Hartt, he studied with the world-renowned jazz master Jackie McLean and Kris Jenson. At Hartt, Mr. McLean instilled in Johnnie Lee respect for the Jazz Masters. With over 35 years of experience, Johnnie Lee has continued to grow incorporating the old and new to create a beautiful music tapestry. Some performance highlights include performing at the Hartford Festival of Jazz, Quinnipiac University, and University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is also a recipient of the Connecticut Commission of the Arts Artist Fellowship Grant.
Teaching Style
I formulate and cater each lesson to the student's needs and interests. My overall approach involves helping each student acquire a life long appreciation of music.
