Jonathan Bower

Hi!

I'm Jonny, a professional guitar player and teacher based in Fleet Hampshire. After graduating from London School of Theology with a BaHons in Theology Music and Worship, I've had the privilege of teaching students as young as 6 who are complete beginners, to university students prepping for their recitals. I have a passion for teaching, and aim to tailor lessons to the student’s goal, whatever that might be.

I'm currrently a laecturer of guitar at London School of Theology, helping students up to and beyond grade 8 level, but have also had extensive teaching experience elsewhere, including my time with Scales and Tales (2021 - 2025) working as a Guitar and Rockshool teacher and arranger.

My teaching style will be tailored to you, but typically I use a combination of established syllabuses and learning pathways combined with bespoke material developed by myself, and often tailor made to the individual student. My methods are always subservient to the goals of the student, whether that be learning songs, preparing for a performance, getting university ready, or progression through grades. However, I do believe deeply in developing understanding in the midst of other aims, and always try to spend the time necessary so the student understands the why as well as the what and how.
