Jonathan Hoffmann
About
Jon Hoffmann is a multi-instrumentalist from Minneapolis, Minnesota specializing in teaching beginner piano, intermediate/advanced guitar and beginner ukulele. With almost two decades of experience, Jon has a wide breadth of music knowledge to help students at any level achieve their goals.
Jon has performed with a variety of ensembles including a wedding ceremony string trio named Heartstrings and the prog/jazz group Sonic Intension. Jon has worked as a performer, songwriter and producer on several albums recorded at River Rock Studios in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota. Many of these ensembles have been featured in music blogs, radio stations and local publications including City Pages and 89.3 The Current.
Jon’s teaching style is fairly relaxed using a flexible structure that is tailored to each student’s specific goals and learning styles. Jon likes to use a mix of recommended lesson books to start learning an instrument and engage with a student’s personal music taste to help them learn some of their favorite genres and artists. He likes to bring light-heartedness and humor into the lessons because learning a new skill can be stressful but can also be fun and exciting. Jon is also very patient with his students and tailors the speed of his teaching to the learning speed of each student.
