About

At a young age Jon Sheckler is proving to be a well versed musician and a up and coming band leader. As a drummer, Jon has played with some of today's leading musicians and entertainers including New Zealand Entertainers Ash Puriri and Chris "The Voice" Prowley, Australian pianists Ashley Curruthers and Trevor Jones, trumpeter Clay Jenkins (Clayton Hamilton JO), award winning vocalist Catherine Jensen-Hole, guitarist Al Rowe (Willie Dixon, Edwin Starr), and Seattle jazz luminaries Chad McCullough, Reuel Lubag, Mark Taylor, Darrius Willrich, The Jim Cutler Jazz Orchestra, Todd Delgudice, and percussionist Micheal Spiro.  During this time, Jon performed on Carnival Cruise Lines until 2014.

In 2010, the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival recognized Jon as an outstanding musician and the 2010 Inside/Out Jazz awards presented by Lucid Jazz Lounge and J&J Music, nominated him as a rising star in Seattle. His composition "Water Marks" won 2009 UNC Jazz Composers Contest.  As an educator, Jon has been a faculty member at Day Jams Rock Camps, Musical Minds Keyboard Club and was an adviser to the Bellevue High School music program.  He has studied with John Riley, Jim White, Gray Barrier and Steve Korn.

While based in Seattle, Jon performed at the Bellevue Jazz Festival and was featured at Tula's Jazz Club, Egan's Ballard Jam House, Lucid Jazz Lounge, Faire Gallery Cafe, Lakeside Bistro, The Scarlet Tree, Locol, the Seamonster Lounge, and the Joowanaroo Music Festival. Sonarchy Radio has twice featured Jon in 2010 and 2013 when he debuted a suite for octet titled "Bodies of Water."  With the release of "Cable Street," featuring Darrius Willrich and Nathan Parker, Jon will become a featured artist for Critical Sun Records.  The track "Pensive Matters" was recently chosen as a Download of the Day by All About Jazz.  Jon has also worked with Grammy winning producer and engineer Bubba Jones and singer-songwriter Jackie Sullivan.  Currently, Jon is a member of the Brooklyn based band, the Liaisons.
