Jordan Scott
About
Hello! My name is Jordan Scott and I am a classically trained bass singer. I sing operas and muscial theatre production regularly as well as working as a section leader in a few choirs. Since recieving my degree in Vocal Performance I have sung everthing from Chant to Vocal Jazz profesionally. I have sung with symphonies such as the CSO, dance groups such as The Nashville Ballet, and appered in the Spoleto Festival USA. I am currenlty preparing for some musical theatre review shows, performances of Handel's Messiah, and roles in various operas including Menotti's The Medium, Kay's The Boor, Verdi's Tosca, and a newer opera funded by the National Endoument of the Arts called Stinney.
Teaching Style
While I sing classically professionlly the majority of the students I've worked with have been non-classical singers. I've worked with musical theatre singers as well as some country, pop, and rock singers. My goal as a teacher is to help the student achieve their personal vocal goals! Whether someone just wants to improve to show-off at karaoke with their friends or is trying to prepare audtion material for their university auditions I will tailor the lesson to their personal needs. I will start by assessing the the student's level of musical knowledge and vocal ability and based on what genre they prefer come up with a lesson plan to help them move forward! My goal above all else is helping the studnent devlope their voice in a healthy way towards their personal goals!
Curriculum
Student texts are dependent on genre and level of ability. After a first lesson once the student's level and goals are determined I will recomend some music anthologies if the student is not already in possession of some and maybe some material on learning to read music if required. If a student wishes to develop their sight reading ability I typically work out of the Pearson's "Music for Sight Singing"
