Jordan Stern
About
Hi, my name is Jordan Stern and I'm a professional guitarist and guitar instructor with a B.M. in Jazz Studies (guitar performance) from the University of Colorado Boulder. I have been playing guitar for 14 years and teaching guitar and music theory for over four years. I have substantial experience playing and teaching jazz, blues, rock, and pop music. You can check out my YouTube channel here.
Additional Credentials: I'm the lead guitarist in the local rock band andylandis that performs regularly in Denver metro area. I've also recorded a jazz organ trio album with two original compositions (broadcast on KUVO Denver radio station). I also hold a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado along with a minor in physics.
I tailor my teaching style to each individual student because everyone learns differently and has different musical goals. If you'd just like to learn to strum the chords to your favorite songs I can quickly teach you a set of tools that will get you making music in no time. Or if you're a more serious student of the guitar who is aiming for mastery, I can help you develop a comprehensive understanding of the guitar and of music theory. Whatever your goals may be, I will seek to personalize all teaching materials to your particular learning style so that you can unlock the secrets of music and of the guitar as efficiently as possible.
I have a B.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder (graduated summa cum laude) and I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a minor in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder (graduated summa cum laude).
I recommend some of the following books for my students depending on their interests: Chord Chemistry by Ted Greene, The Jazz Theory Book by Mark Levine, and all three volumes of A Modern Method for Guitar by William Leavitt.
