About

I am a bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist located in Los Angeles, California. I play for local bands and artists in venues throughout LA. Currently, I am attending the University of Southern California majoring in Popular Music at the Thornton School of Music with a minor in Music Industry. I have recorded and written with various artists and producers throughout my career, as well as performed on multiple radio shows such as as Q104.3, 94.3 The Point and KXSC. I have also played for artists such as The War and Treaty, Amber Riley, Lediesi, and Mickey Guyton for Country Music Television.

In my teaching I aim to cater to where the student's skill level currently stands. I focus on being able to continuously develop a student's ear, theory knowledge, technique, and sight-reading. While working in these areas, I like to connect with the student on their individual goals and what they want to work on in their lessons. Over the years I have been taught and gotten to play with various teachers such as Reggie Hamilton, Freddie Washington, Abraham Laboriel, Alphonso Johnson, Patrice Rushen, Paul Jackson Jr., and Rhonda Smith. Through their teachings and my own experience I know what makes a great musician and how to bring what the students envision for themselves to life.

I have worked for the Thornton Community Engagement Program at USC as a keyboard and bass instructor. Throughout my career I have played and worked alongside some of the best musicians in the Los Angeles and New Jersey scene. Some of these include Eddie Brigati, Ricky Byrd, Steven Van Zandt, Dave Yaden, Printz Board, Lou Pallo, Johnny Farina, and many others. In my time away from school and gigs, I post bass covers to my social media, write and pitch songs for artists, and teach lessons.

Typically I will recommended books and sheet music depending on the student. I have access to various resources and can easily send sheet music and texts to the student that they can work.

However, here are some great texts that I recommend checking out for working on sight-reading:

Bass Aerobics by Jon Liebman

Modern Reading Text in 4/4 by Louis Bellson

Over the years I have been influenced by many different bassists such as Charles Mingus, John Entwistle, Thundercat, Louis Johnson, Larry Graham, Marcus Miller, Nathan Watts, and James Jamerson. I have greatly studied their contributions and continue to take aspects of their playing and incorporate it into my own. I can introduce students into various forms of playing stylistically.
