About

José Carlos Vidal Ramírez is a Spanish conductor, percussionist, French horn player and music teacher from Valencia.

He began his musical studies at the age of six. Although his musical training focused on classical music, he has always been interested in other musical styles such as jazz, flamenco or Latin music. After finishing his studies for horn at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Valencia, he entered the world of conducting and performance of hand percussion instruments (e. g. cajon, bongos, etc.). His constant interest in the latest developments in music has led him to attend advanced courses at institutes such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid.

Throughout his professional career, he has conducted various musical ensembles and taught in numerous music schools, specializing in subjects such as music theory, cajon, ethnic percussion, vocal education, harmony, horn and jazz. As a teacher and performer of cajon, he has participated in many courses and concerts in different music schools, educational centers and cultural entities. He refined his cajon playing skills by learning from teachers like Israel Suárez 'Piraña' and Yoel Páez. Regarding French horn, his activity focuses mainly on teaching. It should be noted that his training was refined by artists like Stefan Dohr and Eric Terwilliger.

José Carlos Vidal Ramírez is currently working as a music teacher and conductor. He combines his educational work with creating and publishing assorted didactic material, percussion projects and live performances.

Throughout my musical career I have worked with students of all ages, from 5 to 80 years old.
My objective is to help students to get their dream of playing a musical instrument, making them enjoy the learning process by adapting the explanations and goals to their age and their previous musical knowledge. Multi-Cam is used in the classes so the student does not miss any detail.

Cajon: it is not necessary to have previous knowledge of music theory. The curriculum can be adapted for reading music notation or reading symbols and learning by ear (for those students who do not know music). The materials used for the lessons are self-created and personalized to each student. The rhythms worked include styles such as pop, funk, salsa, jazz, and, of course, flamenco.
