About

Joshua is a performer, composer, and educator in New York City. Growing up in Schenectady, NY, he began his musical journey at the age of 12 on the clarinet but later picked up the alto saxophone at 16 when he became exposed to jazz. He received a Bachelors’ degree in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase where he has studied with Ralph Lalama, Jon Faddis, Todd Coolman, Kenny Washington, Doug Weiss, Gary Smulyan, Pete Malinverni, and David Dejesus. Joshua has performed in venues in the New York area such as the Blue Note, Birdland, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, and Minton's Playhouse. He has played alongside musicians such as Jason Marshall, Steve Davis, Jon Faddis, Joel Frahm.

Having taught privately for 10 years, Joshua loves to focus on developing the fundamental building blocks that allow all students to begin making music. He believes that a student’s connection with music will allow them to grow as a person, as well as bring enjoyment to their lives. His teaching consists of building fundamental instrumental technique and working on repertoire of the specified field of study (Classical, Jazz, Contemporary). Added instruction includes improvisation and ear training in order to allow each student to be able to create comfortably.
