About

In 2019, Joshua was honored with other military musicians with The National Medal of Arts (highest award given to artists & arts patrons by the United States government). He's been heard playing trumpet in the movie "Fort Bliss" on Netflix, performed as lead and assistant principal trumpet on national television at Olympic Park with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra which is the premier orchestra of the entire nation of Korea, and at the International Trumpet Guild. He's been seen playing trumpet with artists like Ruben Studdard, Michael Curtis, and Garret Miles of American Idol. As an Army musician, he executed 1,000+ military ceremonies and memorials, performing as a trumpet player, bugler, keyboard player/pianist and vocalist for audiences exceeding 100,000. He's had the privilege of honoring veterans and their families by performing taps for over 500 ceremonies.

As an educator, Joshua has invested in students while partnering with teachers, administration and local government. Most recently, he taught at schools while employed through the Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse, NY.  Here, he empowered young people to tell the stories they wanted to tell in the ways in which they wanted to tell them while they learned to cultivate focus and practice self-control in a safe environment using improvisational theatre as the root of the curriculum.  Joshua has worked with educational institutions kindergarten through college in the production of educational outreach concerts, masterclasses, and community events with local symphony orchestras, rock bands, concert, marching, and big bands, brass quintets, jazz combos, wind ensembles, trumpet quartets, trumpet quintets, and brass choirs.

Joshua has been fortunate to study with some of the best teachers and coaches in the world in college and internationally.  He feels blessed to be able to pass on that knowledge. His teaching style is a combination of professional experiences in performance as well as hundreds of books, articles, and thousands of pages that he's gone through over the years sorting out the absolute best so you don't have to!  Joshua prefers a hybrid blending of his personality and interests with student needs while building confidence, ease, efficiency, and endurance.  He demonstrates, coaches, and facilitates self-learning in students by assisting them in developing a video vault where they eventually learn to track progress and teach themselves!
