Juliette Reilly
About
Juliette Reilly is a recent magna cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College with a major in Music Performance and double minors in English and Creative Writing. She was the music director of the Broadway-based a cappella group on campus, and performed in a wide range of shows such as Jesus Christ, Superstar and Street Scene. She has trained professionally with Broadway vocal coaches Joan Lader, Diane Sutherland and Cheryl Stern. Although her voice is her main instrument, she also plays guitar, piano and ukulele.
Over the last year and a half, she has released original songs and covers on her YouTube channel, which have earned her over 150,000 subscribers and over 5,000,000 channel views. She stays very active on her social media sites, where she has almost 200,000 total followers. Her recent song "Hero" won the Songdoor International Songwriting Competition for 2015, and is the current theme song for Project Semicolon, a teen anti-bullying non-profit organization. You can find this song, as well as her debut EP Battle Cry on iTunes and Spotify.
In addition to the digital realm, Juliette has performed at popular gig venues in NJ, PA and NY including The Rockwood Music Hall, The Tin Angel, and The Path Cafe. Well-versed in the music industry, she has worked at Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records, the leading Broadway cast album label, and interned at SONY/Columbia Records in the marketing department.
Extremely passionate about all genres of music, Juliette has experience in several realms from songwriting to marketing to production, and of course, vocal technique. She is currently an instructor at the School of Rock in Randolph, NJ and at the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts in Flemington, NJ. She also teaches private lessons in her area in Berkeley Heights, NJ. She believes in the lasting impact of a student's first few experiences in vocal training, and is willing to work with all ages/levels to best meet their individual needs. Juliette is enthusiastic about helping students reach their utmost potential, a great motivator, and is driven to foster a comfortable and inspiring learning environment in her studio.
Some of her top influencers in how I write/teach songwriting are: Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, Brad Paisley, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Adele, Ed Sheeran and more!
She uses exercises for her songwriting students from 3 songwriting books: "Songwriters on Songwriting," "Writing Better Lyrics," and "Shortcuts to Hit Songwriting." For six weeks, each week half of the lesson is designated for songwriting, and the second half for vocal technique. She has studied and trained with top industry professionals in Broadway, Jazz, Classical and Pop music and has taught students from all ages and levels.
