About

I am a Houston-based freelance professional clarinetist and bass clarinetist, frequently performing with the Houston Ballet Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, and I've played with other professional groups such as Opera in the Heights and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. I am recent graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Clarinet Performance, and studied for 7 years with Richie Hawley (former Principal Clarinet, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.) Before that, I studied at Interlochen Arts Academy with Emil Khudyev (now Associate Principal Clarinet of the Seattle Symphony.) I've attended festivals including Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, and Texas Music Festival.

My teaching style is all about meeting each student where they are, and helping them to develop as a clarinetist, musician, and person. I teach clarinetists and bass clarinetists of all levels, and I take a holistic approach to addressing all aspects of musicianship, fundamentals, repertoire, etc. I also am passionate about helping students prepare for auditions and performances, including strategies for dealing with performance anxiety, setting up mock auditions, and strategies for effective and efficient practicing.
