About
I've been a gigging musician for over 20 years, specializing in classical and Celtic music. I have experience playing in folk bands as well as orchestral settings. Most recently, I have been doing some recording studio work. I have well over 10 years experience teaching private lessons and was fortunate enough to teach general music in a small charter school at the elementary level while pursuing my Associate's degree. I'm currently working on a B.A. in music.
Teaching Style
I'm versed in the Suzuki teaching method for those students who desire it, but I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach. The first few lessons are usually an evaluation of the student's learning style and music preferences while we cover the basics. This way, I can cater to the individual needs of the student and develop an individualized curriculum.
Curriculum
The first few lessons are just going over the basics of holding the instrument with proper posture, getting a decent sound, and general care of the instrument. I don't require any specific texts until I develop a rapport with the student and learn what style the student is interested in playing.
