Karthik Sathian
About
Karthik is a professional music producer, composer, audio engineer and sound designer with experience in the U.K. and Indian music industry.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Production and Sound engineering from the prestigious Point Blank Music School, London, a Master's degree in Sound and Music for Interactive Games from Leeds Beckett University, and is a Trinity School of Music Grade 8 Rock & Pop Guitarist.
With nearly 10+ years of experience in music production and music performance combined, Karthik has worked in the capacities of session guitarist, music producer, mixing/mastering engineer and sound designer for independent artists, TV, films, adverts and video games. He is also an extremely passionate educator who is particularly interested in developing new and bespoke methodologies for teaching the budding academic fields of music production and sound design.
Karthik began his musical career in his teens playing guitar for various pop, funk and progressive rock bands. He is adept at orchestral, electronic (EDM, Future Bass, Dubstep) and contemporary music (pop, funk, R&B) which he picked up during his bachelor's and master's journeys. Furthermore, owing to his Indian background, Karthik is exposed to Indian classical and film music thereby placing him at a unique crossroads between Eastern and Western musical knowledge.
With a holistic understanding of music technology and composition, Karthik is uniquely qualified to teach a range of topics to students of all ages.
Every student learns differently and has their own specific goals. My 1-1 classes ensure that each student is given undivided attention so that their learning is fun, stress-free and engaging. I'm extremely patient, empathetic and enthusiastic and I believe in creating an environment that is conducive to fostering the creative abilities of the student. From the onset, the student's requirements and learning goals will be thoroughly discussed and a personalized syllabus will be curated.
Through my years of academic experience in many classrooms, I've developed bespoke methods for teaching/learning topics and creating fun exercises to help cement the concepts at hand. The learning is truly holistic such that a topic is approached from multiple angles (theory, practical work and exercises).
As an instructor, I've been teaching online and offline lessons for Music Production and Guitar Performance for over 8 years. From 2020, my classes have been entirely online and thus my teaching content is tailor-made for an online experience.
