Let's make music fun!!  One of the most important jobs as a music teacher is to develop a lifetime love of music!  When a student enjoys piano, then practicing is much more fun!  What kind of music would you like to make?  If you interested in learning chords, improvising, or studying traditional piano, consider me as a potential teacher!  I have developed material (including PDF jazz and blues arrangements, hymn arrangements, familiar songs, and Christmas music) to engage students in music!

As a piano and voice teacher, I have been teaching since 2006!  What a blessing it is to teach students a variety of forms of music, as well as a love for music.  My educational background includes a B.A. in Music Business (vocal performance minor), and a M.A. in Music, studying jazz piano.  My piano teaching experience includes classical piano, traditional piano (various levels), jazz, improvisation, as well as chords and theory.  My vocal teaching experience includes classical voice (opera pieces), vocal technique, gospel, jazz, and musical theater pieces.  Growing up in a musical family, my family, the Georges, ministered and still minister through music.  I also enjoy recording and writing written music for others and students (books and mp3s can be viewed on Amazon.com)!  One of the reasons I write written music, is to develop a love for music in students!  I also have recordings on Spotify and Amazon!

* Let's make music fun!!

* What a blessing and privilege it is to teach piano and voice to students of all ages!  It is wonderful to teach a variety of forms of music, as well as a love for music!  (teaching since 2006)!

* Feel free to contact me (send a message) if you have any questions or if you are interested in a different time slot than what is currently available on my schedule!

* Teach beginner to advanced piano students

* Teaching (piano or voice) revolves around what the student would like to learn (a traditional or more creative approach)!

* Teach improvisation on hymns or jazz!

Piano teaching includes: traditional piano method, classical piano, improvisation on hymns, jazz, or blues, chords and music theory (sheet music & videos)

* Vocal teaching includes: jazz, opera, musical theater, gospel music, vocal technique, warm ups, sight reading, and note reading:  (arrangements & exercises)

* Vocal technique: breathing, lift of the soft palate, resonance, vocal onset, and other vocal topics!

* Here are questions to ask yourself when working on vocal technique!

Am I using diaphragmatic breathing?

Am I using a low belly breath?

Are these areas relaxed?

Upper lip

Arms, fingers

Soft palate:

Is my soft palate lifted, like a yawn?

Am I lifting the soft palate and relaxing the tongue?

Am I singing into the mask?

Do I feel a buzzing in the nose and forehead?

As I go up the scale do I feel as though the tone is going up over and back of my head?

Do I have plenty of space (yawn) space as I sing up the scale?

If I want a “nasal” sound, I can sing in the mask and not lift the soft palate.

If I want a forward sound, but not nasal, I can keep the soft palate down.

* B.A. music business (vocal performance minor), also studied classical piano all four years (Anderson University) * M.A. in music (studied with a jazz piano professor and studied jazz piano and vocals) (Ball State University) * Pi Kappa Lambda member 2005 (Issued by Student at Ball State) * ASCAP member

* Teaching revolves around what the student would like to learn (a traditional and/or creative approach)!

* Piano methods: traditional piano students or piano students interested in classical piano, jazz, improvisation, or blues; I would recommend a book or supply sheet music, according to the type of piano interest!

* I personally enjoy the Faber/Faber method for traditional piano lessons, although I have used different piano methods throughout the years!  If you are used to a specific method, we can keep the same method!

* I also write piano books and can offer sheet music (Christmas music, finger exercises, blues, jazz, and hymn arrangements)!

* Vocal students interested in vocal technique, note reading, sight singing, opera, gospel music, or musical theater!
