Katie Frewerd
About
Katie Frewerd has been studying voice personally for 20 years and collegiately for 6 years. She specializes in a number of styles and has an extensive music theory background, having taken 8 semesters of collegiate level music theory courses. In 2010, Katie earned her Associates Degree in Professional Music focusing on vocal and piano jazz styles at Phil Mattson's School for Music Vocations in Creston, IA. In 2019, she earned her bachelor's degree in Music with an emphasis on contemporary vocal styles at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Here, she focused on Estill Voice Training methods and also took the Estill Voice Training workshop in 2018. Katie has an impressive performance background, having traveled nationally and internationally with vocal jazz groups, and currently performing locally in Milwaukee with her singer-songwriter duet Water & Wells. Katie has taught privately in the past for about a year and a half, and she also taught college students privately for her last semester at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While Katie's strongest background is in teaching contemporary vocal styles, she also teaches beginner's piano and music theory.
Teaching Style
Katie teaches contemporary and jazz voice through the Estill Method of vocal training.
