Katie Riley
About
Hello friends! My name's Katie and as a lifelong musical theater artist that's where my teaching expertise lies; I'm skilled in teaching musical theatre style vocals (from legit to contemporary) and coaching singers and actors for auditions or performances. I'm a recent Berklee College of Music graduate with a degree in Professional Music, which has given me a strong footing in many musical styles and also in music theory.
Teaching Style
My mission as a teacher is to learn what the student wants and needs from lessons and supply that; and whether it's learning for your personal enjoyment or working towards professional goals, I will strive to provide high-quality coaching in a supportive, safe environment.
Through my time at Berklee College of Music, I was able to study all parts of the music business, including classes focused in teaching music in a private studio, and coaching theatre vocalists. I also took three years of private voice lessons. My first two years were focused on music theory so if you have any questions about reading music, songwriting, ear training, or harmony (jazz or tonal), I'm your girl!
Before coming to Berklee I had almost 10-years of experience singing in choirs and acapella groups and working in every aspect of theatre. At Berklee I was able to hone all those skills and graduate with a concentration in Musical Theatre Performance.
