Kristina Yoder
About
I'm a violinist in the Pittsburgh Symphony. I completed my studies at the Juilliard School, receiving my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Violin Performance. I've enjoyed over decade of teaching experience. My wonderful teachers have included Almita Vamos, Ronald Copes, Joel Smirnoff, Hyo Kang, Ben Sayevich, and Kathy Berry. I was the Grand Prize Winner of the Naftzger Competition and have performed as soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, and other orchestras.
I've participated in the Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, and the Yellow Barn Music Festival. Coaches include Glenn Dicterow, Dorothy DeLay, Gil Shaham, and the Juilliard String Quartet.
Teaching Style
I love to help students find their strengths. I especially enjoy finding the most engaging tones and colors. I can also help you improve your technique and practice skills for the most efficient use of your time. Please tell me your musical goals and I will help you achieve them.
Curriculum
I use a variety of method, scale, and etude books, tailored to help each student improve. For the beginning student, I may use Suzuki books, along with a variety of exercise books. For a more advanced student, I will assign repertoire based on their level and individual needs. I am also happy to work with you on any music that you'd like to, as long as it is at the appropriate level for your ability.
