Kyle Hawkes
About
Kyle has been passionate about music from an early age. Growing up listening and learning rock and blues, he later developed a love for classical music and jazz while studying music in university. He received his masters degree in Guitar Performance from University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada.
Kyle has experience as a studio musician, performer, arranger, and sideman. He has been teaching music for the past ten years and is interested in students of all levels. He also has experience teaching a wide variety of genres and his students have gone on to win music competitions, and have been accepted in universities to pursue careers in music.
I know that every student is different and has different needs. I love discovering what teaching style works best for every student. Some of my adult students have been playing guitar for over 30 years, and just want to understand the theory behind the fretboard. Other have started as complete beginners. With all my students, I encourage a classical technique that is universally applicable to all genres, and makes guitar playing, overall, more easy and fun.
