About

I am a guitarist, music educator, and guitar tech. I've been a guitarist for over a decade now and have spent the two years dedicated to teaching. I've performed in rock, jazz. metal, country, and pop bands based out of northwestern Ohio. I’ve studied music from Purdue Fort Wayne and have been under the guidance of many amazing teachers. I’ve studied from many great books and online courses that I recommend for my students to this day. I am also an avid transcriber of all types of music, but most often jazz. I am constantly transcribing music for my students to learn and encouraging them to learn the skill as well. I also have worked professionally as a guitar tech for many years and am passionate about educating my students on how to set-up and maintain their guitars.

Teaching Style

Learning music is an incredibly rewarding journey full of enriching experiences. You will ultimately get out of the instrument what you put into it, which is why I encourage persistence. My goal as a guitar teacher is to shorten the learning curve for you. Under my guidance, you can expect to be challenged with new ideas and concepts that will ultimately turn you into the guitar player you are fully capable of becoming.

Each student is unique in their learning style and in the pace that they learn at. This is why I believe in creating lesson plans catered for each individual student. I do my best to let each of my students' curiosity and goals guide them into what topics we cover. When taking lessons from me, you will receive custom made exercise sheets, tabs, backing tracks, and more based on your goals as a guitarist.

Some topics that I will cover (based on the student’s goals) are improvisation, ear training, sight reading, repertoire, theory, transcribing, and guitar maintenance.

My lesson lengths are either 30 or 60 minutes in length. I recommend weekly lessons for the best results, but will make exceptions. Each lesson will come with homework assignments that you will be expected to do your best to learn. If a student is struggling with a concept, we will stay on that subject as long as needed to help you master it.
