Kysanne Lewis

I’m Kysanne, a dedicated mum and a passionate private maths tutor with 15+ years of experience in the tuition industry. After graduating with an Honours degree in Mathematics and Accounting, I started my tutoring journey in 2010 by founding a small maths tuition business.. Over the years, the business expanded into a physical location in the capital city, offering in-centre and in-home tutoring in various subjects to both local students and those visiting from the US and the UK. During this time, my commitment and strong work ethic helped my business to develop a high reputation, with the majority of new students being referred through word of mouth. After relocating to the UK post-pandemic, I continued my work as a maths tutor, gaining further experience teaching UK primary and secondary school students. 

Tutoring is one of my passions, as I love being involved in propelling the growth of others.  I believe that any student can be successful in any subject through dedication, persistence and consistency. For Mathematics specifically, I've noticed that students who establish a strong grasp of fundamental concepts and practice consistently tend to be the most successful. This has shaped my tutoring approach, where I prioritize building a strong foundation before progressing to more advanced topics.

Beyond my work in education, music is a deep passion of mine. After completing university, I pursued this subject, gaining an Associate degree in Applied Arts - Music (with credit). Today, I’m an avid guitarist, vocalist, singer-songwriter, and developing music producer, balancing my tutoring business with recording and producing my self-penned, original songs.

My teaching style is adaptable to each student's personality, motivation, and work ethic. I strive to keep students engaged by using creative methods such as games, apps, and videos, making learning both fun and effective. I also emphasize the importance of independent thinking by guiding students with questions instead of simply providing answers (when appropriate). From my experience, this approach helps strengthen their logic and critical thinking abilities whilst boosting their confidence.
