About

I am an experienced violin teacher, born into a musical family in Guangdong, southern China. My father is a distinguished graduate of the Orchestra Department at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Since childhood, I have been tutored by my father, receiving rigorous training in violin performance and completing a multitude of sight-singing and music theory tasks at home. I have also participated in numerous masterclasses held by violin professors throughout China.

I have a profound background in the humanities. My undergraduate major was in Chinese Language and Literature, and I sustained my love for music history and performing arts throughout my doctoral studies in Ancient Chinese Literature. I have previously served as the officially registered Secretary-General of the String Association of Guangdong Province and am currently a board member.

My tutelage has led my students to win gold in various music competitions, and every single one of my students has passed the national violin examination, achieving a 100% pass rate.

Teaching Style

With a profound respect for the results of contemporary neuroscience research, I have deeply contemplated the two major modules of instrumental singing and instrumental use movement. Through the application of a model-based analytical framework, I establish a solid foundation for violin playing and significantly simplify the modules of violin performance. I differentiate the violinist's left and right hands into the 'construction hand' and 'driving hand', with a focus on the relationship between motion and stillness.

This approach was inspired by my violin mentor Mr. Lin Yaoji, a lineage holder of the Auer School of violin and a student of Yankelevich. So I consider the relationship between singing and harmony in the musicality of pieces, and I emphasize understanding and imagining the score while also providing guidance on singing techniques. I require my students to be examined in the process of practice and performance.

Curriculum

I employ the motion model teaching method, the understanding-imagination-singing teaching method, and the stage performance-dialogue style teaching approach. I do not use a uniform textbook. For beginners, the starting point is the Suzuki violin method, interspersed with teaching of Kreisler, Mazas, and Dont violin exercises and related concertos.
