Hi! My name is Lauri. I am an experienced and easy-going string teacher from Finland. I have been working as the principal string teacher of violin and viola in The Northwestern Music Institute in Helsinki. I have 30 years of experience how to teach the violin and viola with great results.
I am the author of Violin Friends and Viola Friends Method Books, as well as The Amazing Violin Comics. My compositions are distributed trough Universal Edition.
I love to teach music and to find solutions for my students that help them to play better and with a sense of ease. I am specialized in teaching the violin and viola in a tension free way using string pedagogy that helps everyone to play effortless, still producing a great sound. I believe that playing the violin should always feel easy!
I am available to teach individual lessons or make a plan that suites your wishes and work together for a longer period.
I have been teaching students from kids to adults, violin groups and string orchestras in Helsinki, Turku, Espoo and Stockholm.
I offers individual and lessons for all ages of violin and viola players. I will give you exercises and tips how to build up a relaxed and effortless technique in order to focus on the musical qualities of your chosen piece. I have great knowledge for repertoire that we can go through together in a pedagogical order.
I like to engage my students in the learning process right from the start so that you can be your own teacher one day.
I believe I have a lot of knowledge and experience about teaching stringed instruments. We can make our lessons fun, engaging and efficient!
