Leslie Fesperman

Fiber Arts

About

Leslie is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for hand weaving through teaching ongoing classes at the Yadkin Valley Fiber Center in Elkin,  North Carolina .  She also teaches at various guilds, The John Campbell Folk School and fiber festivals on the east coast.   She specializes in teaching beginning students on the jack style loom, inkle loom  and rigid heddle loom. Secondary to her beginning course Leslie's  main areas of teaching are functional double weave textiles and rag style weaving.

In addition to weaving, Leslie loves color .  She has taken numerous classes and has been in a color study group for over 10 years. She believes color is a personal choice and understanding colors and how they work together can create beautiful textiles.

Leslie feels that teaching should be live and in person and works to bring this to the virtual platform.  Instruction is brought to the student via  print, verbal and demonstrated formats.   She works to make sure every student understands the material and her approach is to teach in a way that makes sense to the student recognizing we all have different ways to attain the same goal.
