About

Hello! My name is Lily Wohl. I am a performing musician and teacher located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Having had the privilege of studying under numerous excellent teachers of piano, voice, and other instruments, I am honored to be able to help learners of all ages reach their full musical potential. I have always loved to teach and have assisted many on their learning journey, and I learn every day from my students. When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time with my three cats and to go to the beach!

I have collaborated with renowned composers and ensembles, including Francis Schwartz, Passerine, and Mark Dancigers, and was the vocal soloist for the New Cats Jazz group for over 4 years. I have been a soloist at both Temple Emanu-El and Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota, Florida since 2015. I have studied voice, piano, cello, and guitar under numerous well-known teachers, including Nadine Trudel, soloist with the Sarasota Orchestra, and Michael Rickman, internationally renowned concert pianist and Professor Emeritus of Keyboard Studies at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.

I have taught piano, voice, and music theory to all ages for over 6 years, including teaching Music Theory and Sightreading/Ear Training as a teaching assistant for 3 years at my alma mater (New College of Florida). I am very privileged to be a part of a teaching lineage that can be traced directly back to Chopin! My passions are particularly rooted in Early music and Jazz/Fusion music, as well as ensemble directing.

I have high expectations and am firm but very supportive with my students. I aim for a comprehensive approach to teaching and always include music theory and ear training to help students become well-rounded musicians. This will prepare them for higher level music courses at the secondary or university level. I am always open to adapting my teaching methods to better suit an individual student.

BA, Music; New College of Florida

For piano students, I typically choose Bastian method books for beginning students. Vocal students often require more tailoring with respect to the teaching methods, so I generally work with the student directly to determine the appropriate texts/materials needed.
