About

Lourdes Moreno is a singer, songwriter and composer born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lives in Canada since 2016. She is an active performing and recording artist.

She has over eight years of experience teaching voice, guitar, piano, music theory, and songwriting to kids and adults. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music ( graduated Magna Cum Laude - Student Achievement Scholarship) and a Bachelor’s degree in classical Composition from UCA Argentine Catholic University (full scholarship on the last two years).

Her extensive knowledge of music combined with her passion as an active recording and performing artist, and the exposure to some of the best teachers in the world give a her a tool box of resources that is hard to find in a music teacher. Her studies in other areas such as acting, Alexander Technique and Effortless Mastery have been a big influence in her art and are one of the most valuable features of her teaching techniques. “Composing, playing an instrument or singing, are activities that engage our whole being. Body awareness and emotions are key parts of performing”.

About her artist career

Her music fuses Latin pop-rock with Argentine Folk, Jazz, Latin American rhythms, Tango and even Flamenco.

In the last few years she has studied and worked with the multiple Latin Grammy winner producer and songwriter Javier Limon. During that time she produced a music video with Berklee College students for the also multi Latin Grammy winner Alejandro Sanz. This experience gave her the opportunity to participate in the 2013 Latin Grammy Awards performing with the artist. In 2015 she met internationally acclaimed Spanish singer songwriter Rosana and performed as a guest artist at her New York show during her USA Tour that year. Rosana has been a great influence in her art.

She has been performing as Onna Lou since 2011. Performing in Argentina, the United States, and more recently Canada, organizing individual and group performances together with amazing artists.

She has done hundreds of shows since she moved to Winnipeg in 2016. Her performances include festivals like Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Folklorama, Winnipeg Fringe Festival, Music and Mavens, to concert halls like CCFM’s Pauline Boutal hall, Park Theatre, Berney Theatre, private events at places like Winter Club, Hawthorne Estates, house concerts, and weekly performances around the city.

In her short time in Canada she has also received the support of Winnipeg Arts Council and Manitoba Arts Council on 2017 and 2018.

She is currently working on the release of several music videos from her live shows, and the release of two singles this year.

Lourdes’ combination of training in different aspects of performance and music theory make possible her fresh and unique way of teaching music. She has taught voice, songwriting, guitar, and music theory for over eight years in Argentina and Canada to kids and adults.

"The musician’s journey be it a singer, a songwriter, an instrumentalist, a composer, it doesn’t matter, it is always a road of never-ending learning and finding yourself in your art. The more you learn and master your craft the more freedom you find to express yourself and imprint your artistic voice in what you do. With the achievement of getting better and doing what you love, comes the greatest of satisfactions, the feeling of expressing what is inside and connecting with others through your music. I’ve had many teachers that changed my life with their knowledge and expertise and have helped me become the artist I am today. I have learnt so much and I love passing it on and helping others find joy in their art." - Lourdes Moreno
