About

At 24-years-old, Lucas Kadish is taking large strides in the world of jazz and improvised music. He has performed alongside artists such as Les McCann, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Braxton Cook, Dominick Faranacci, Jonathan Barber’s Vision Ahead, and many more.  Lucas was named a YoungArts finalist and a Presidential Scholar of the Arts semi-finalist in 2014 and was selected for the international Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program in 2015. Since then he's led many tours of his own music nationally and internationally.  Lucas attended the New School for Jazz in NYC on the President’s Scholarship. Now graduated, he lives in Brooklyn NY where he teaches, performs, and tours regularly. He has a working trio named Tundra. It is comprised of the unique individual voices of Nick Dunston on the upright bass and Tim Angulo on the drums. The trio approaches Lucas's original music with purpose and spirit while celebrating its many influences.

I am here to provide you with the tools to be the best possible musician you can be in any given scenario. Anything from dedicating your life to being a professional musician to playing guitar at campfires, I believe we need to be properly equipped with the tools to do our very best in these situations. I take a very personalized approach for each student based on their level and the direction they see themselves going in. However, there are fundamental aspects of the instrument that must be learned regardless of your goals in the music. I strike a balance between establishing these rudiments while staying focused on the very reason we picked up this instrument in the first place... to make music!
