About

Lucas Song is a professional cellist, educator, and member of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. He completed his Master of Music studying with Ilya Finkelshteyn at the College-Conservatory of Music, where he was principal cellist of the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. Prior to coming to Cincinnati, he graduated with honors from the University of Michigan studying with Anthony Elliott and performed in the National Orchestral Institute, Innsbrook Festival, and Credo Chamber Music Festival. In addition to performing, he is a passionate educator and taught in Ann Arbor public schools and in summer camps for youth in Detroit. A personal dream of his is to see classical music be spread to more diverse audiences as he believes music has the ability to cross boundaries and create relationships across dividing lines. In his free time, he loves to play basketball, spend time with friends, watch Michigan sports, and be active in his local church community.

A top priority of mine is to help my students love and appreciate the music they are playing. On top of learning the technical difficulties of how to play the cello, I want all of my students to build a lasting relationship with their instrument and the music they are playing. I love seeing my students express themselves through music and find joy in practicing and playing.
