Ludovica Burtone

Ludovica Burtone is an Italian-born violinist, pianist, composer and recording artist. She has performed worldwide, as both soloist and chamber musician, and has recorded for a number of television and film scores. Ludovica received classical training from the Conservatory of Liceu in Spain, and the Conservatory J. Tomadini in Italy, where she graduated with a Master of Arts in Violin Performance, Magna Cum Laude. Most recently, Ludovica received a Diploma in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music, where she was a scholarship recipient.

Ludovica has worked with several European orchestras including the Orchestra Mitteleuropa and the Orchestra Teatro Lirico di Trieste and has toured throughout continental Europe, Canada, Costa Rica and the United States, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Boston Opera House, Teatro Nuovo G. da Udine, Musikverein, and more. In addition to her classical training, Ludovica grew up improvising in jazz and folk musical contexts.

In 2011 she was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Banff Festival in Jazz and Creative Music (Canada), where she studied performance and composition with artists such as Dave Douglas, Eyvind Kang and Kneebody. She has worked in masterclasses with Jim Black, Mark Feldman, and Mark Dresser and assisted John Blake Jr. at the Mark O’Connor 2013 Summer String Program. While at Berklee, Ludovica was a violin section leader of the Berklee World Strings under Eugene Friesen, and has performed as concertmaster & section leader with artists such as Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Dream Theater, Alejandro Sanz, A. R. Rahman and Susana Baca.
