Luis Enrique Sanchez
About
Luis Enrique “Kiki” Sanchez is a music educator based in Miami, Florida. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies and a Master of Arts in Music Composition from Florida Atlantic University. During his tenure at Miami Dade College, Sanchez taught Classical and Jazz Piano, Sight Singing, Music Theory, and Jazz and Contemporary Harmony.
As an author, he has published two books: The Contemporary Music Harmony Book, which explains contemporary music harmony, and The Real Latin Piano Book, which covers the most essential Latin music styles for the piano. In 2007, he also released an instructional DVD entitled The Real Latin Piano and The Introduction to Afro-Peruvian Rhythms.
Sanchez’s teaching approaches typically fall into two categories: established historical methodologies and modern pedagogical frameworks. Depending on the student’s level—from children to adult professionals—and their specialization in genres such as jazz or classical, these strategies are effectively mixed and matched. Ultimately, he is deeply passionate about teaching and enjoys working with students of all levels, believing that education is the key to building a bright future.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is rooted in positive empowerment. I believe that a student’s best work happens in an environment of encouragement and mutual respect. My goal is to make every lesson the highlight of the student's week, blending high technical standards with a supportive approach that celebrates every breakthrough, no matter how small. I don't just teach music; I teach the confidence to create it.
