About

Would you like to learn worship or classical piano? I am a classically-trained pianist with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI. I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano through MTNA. I have been teaching piano since 2017, when I taught for 3 years at Maranatha Music Prep School in Watertown, WI.  In 2021, I opened my own studio called Making Melody Music Academy, with the goal of raising up musicians and worshippers for the glory of God. I teach worship and classical piano at the beginning, intermediate, and early advanced levels; and I have advanced teaching software to make your online lessons easy-to-follow and fun!

One of my unique specialties is worship piano. As I started teaching piano independently after college, I discovered the need for worship piano resources that teach not only how to play the piano but also how to worship. I also found that traditional piano lessons often focus on a different skill set than what is needed to play for worship. As a result of these findings, I developed an innovative approach for learning worship piano, called Worship Essentials. Using this method, my students have been able to progress quickly, enjoy playing their favorite songs, and grow in the heart of worship.

In high school and college, my favorite subject was English - so it is no surprise that I also teach writing through Lessonface! I have an Associate of Arts in Education, and I enjoy helping my students learn the art and craft of writing. Whether you are working on a school assignment or writing a book, I would love to help you organize your ideas, find your unique style, and begin writing!

I was 16. The sun streamed through the window as I opened my songbook and began to play as I had many times before. But today was different. As I pounded out the classic “In Christ Alone,” for the first time something came alive in me. Out of nowhere the thought entered my mind, thundering louder than the keys I was pounding: “THIS is what I want to do with my life!” That day I discovered that music wasn’t just a hobby – it’s what I was made to do.

If you are reading this, you have that same spark of creativity, that connection to music. You see, music expresses what words cannot. Words can capture our thoughts, but music is the language of the heart, reflecting who we really are. The Psalmist wrote, “I will break open mysteries with my music” (Psalm 49:4).

You were created to be musical, and you have a unique voice – something that makes you come alive. Maybe it is writing songs or leading worship. Maybe it is performing Beethoven sonatas or contemporary Yiruma music. Maybe it is playing for church or composing something that no one has ever thought of before. You have a unique style, sound, and purpose. Let’s discover it together and develop your God-given abilities for His glory.

My teaching style is hands-on, interactive, and fun! When you come to every lesson, you can expect to (1) enjoy it and (2) learn something new! Lessons are not designed to fit you into a mold of the teacher's expectations. Rather, they are designed to help you discover your talents and reach your potential.
