About

I am a graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. My primary study was Cello with Naomi Butterworth and my second study was Piano with Gabriele Baldocci. As part of my course I specialised in Teaching, both in group and individual settings. As well as tutoring private students I have undertaken a variety of work for Essex, Newham and SCYM (A branch of Junior Guildhall) as well as directing workshops at several London primary schools. While classically trained I am also prolific in the Folk and Popular Music arenas. In the classical world I perform with groups such as the Royal Orchestral Society, Colchester Symphony Orchestra and the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. In the contemporary arena I have performed with groups at the Hammersmith Apollo, Brownstock Music Festival, and in numerous London venues. I also ran folk music nights in London and headed a youth jazz band in Colchester for three years.

My teaching reflects the diversity of my performance styles and I always give my pupils the technical faculty that they require to be confident performers. I also allow room for freedom and experimentation. As well as covering cello and piano technique I also instruct my pupils in music theory, aural/rhythmic training and stylistic improvisation. I have experience teaching absolute beginners to more advanced students with an age range of 5 – 65 years old.
