About
I'm a guitarist/songwriter who has been studying for over 38 years. My main influences are Randy Rhoades and Van Halen. I discovered many songwriting style from influences such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, STP, Jim Croce, Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos. I also have a love for classical music influenced by my Father, who was a pianist.
I've been teaching guitar/ music for 20 years. I enjoy helping others to follow their ambition to learn how to not only play guitar, but understand the wonder of music theory.
My teaching style includes reading music/ TAB, traditional scales and improvisation. Composition and understanding how to learn songs. Acoustic and electric styles related to artist expression. Chord theory vs. the guitar neck. I feel if a student can understand music and the guitar they are free to learn on their own. I have taught at many music stores including ABC music, Music Depot and Jams music. And I've worked summer camps with Bandworks and School of Rock.
I have been performing for 27 years with original bands such as Mother Earth, Crazy Daisy's, Honey shot and SCRANTON. I've performed in venue's all over the San Francisco Bay Area such as Slim's, Red Devil lounge, Paradise Lounge and Stork Club.
I'm the main writer, rhythm/lead guitarist and lyricist. I've also performed in cover/tribute bands such as the Hormones (Ramon's tribute) and Miss Behaved. I have produced two albums as a solo artist... Born Ready and Old School Rant, available on Reverberation. I have been hired as a studio musician for Guitar Farm and songwriter John EL. I have been developing a youtube channel, Miss Margaret's guitar show, to support my students.
I use Hal Leonard instruction books. I also suppliment with my own charts and video tutorials through email.
