About
Former Associate Principal Double Bass at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra 2015 - 2023, and former 2nd Solo Double Bass at the Royal Danish Opera (fixed-term contract). Teaching experience encompasses lecturing double bass at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, working with younger people at Sistema Scotland and private tutions of all ages.
Guest appearances include the orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestras, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, London Handel Players, Britten Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Graduated with a 1st class degree from the Royal College of Music, London (both BMus and MPerf) under Thomas Martin. I also hold a MSc in Psychology (distinction) and I am currently undertaking a Doctorate degree in Music Psychology.
I have been teaching the double bass for 13 years and am currently lecturing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I also do guest teaching at Sistema Scotland and have taught double bass masterclasses at Universidade do Minho - Portugal.
I have students from all ages from 5 - 65 years old - It's never too late to develop your passion :)
My methods are different with and adaptable to each student. Posture and physical awareness and well being while playing is however present in all my lessons and with all students.
